High-Tech Golf League TGL to Launch January 7, Pitting PGA Stars Like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy Head-to-Head

MIAMI, Florida ; The much-anticipated TGL, an innovative, technology-powered indoor golf league featuring PGA Tour’s elite players, is set to make its grand debut on January 7, 2025. The league’s unique schedule was just unveiled, revealing a potential January 27 matchup between two of the biggest names in golf: Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods.

With six teams competing, TGL’s matches will be held in a custom-built South Florida arena equipped with cutting-edge technology. Players will engage with a massive simulator screen and navigate a green complex constructed on a roundtable setup, giving fans an unprecedented viewing experience. Each team will field three of its four players per match, competing over 15 holes in a format designed for television. The league will hold regular-season games on Mondays and Tuesdays, culminating in semifinals on March 17-18 and a best-of-three championship final from March 24-25.

The opening night matchup will see Xander Schauffele, this year’s British Open and PGA Championship winner, leading the New York Golf Club against The Bay Golf Club. The Bay’s roster features Irishman Shane Lowry and rising Swedish star Ludvig Aberg. Other teams include Woods’ Jupiter Links, Collin Morikawa’s Los Angeles Golf Club, Justin Thomas’ Atlanta Drive, and McIlroy’s Boston Common.

Boston Common, debuting against Jupiter Links on January 27, will boast an all-star lineup of major champions: McIlroy, American Keegan Bradley, Australia’s Adam Scott, and Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama. This powerhouse team promises an exciting showdown against Woods’ Jupiter Links, adding an extra layer of excitement to TGL’s inaugural season.

Originally slated for an earlier start, TGL faced delays when the new arena sustained damage mid-construction, prompting organizers to postpone its launch. Now back on track, the league is ready to bring fans a fresh, high-energy golf experience like no other.
