Lewis Hamilton has revealed what caused his break up with Nicole Scherzinger last year.

Speaking to Top Gear Magazine, the Formula 1 driver opened up about his past relationship and admitted that he split from the former X Factor judge as there was something more important to him than romance.

“My cars are my babies,” said the 31 year-old. “I used to say, when I had a girlfriend, ‘I’m taking one of the girls out, so you can come if you want, but you come second when it comes to the cars.'”

The pair had an on/off relationship for seven years before putting an end to their romance last year. Although neither of them had commented on the reasons behind their split, it was reported that it was due to long distance.

However, since the split, it’s been safe to say the Grand Prix champ hasn’t been short of female attention as he’s been linked to a number of other ladies in the limelight including Chanel Iman and Rita Ora.
