Andy Murray got fans talking as he reacted to a fired up Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open.
The Serbian star was facing Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals of the slam down under and emerged victorious in a match of the tournament contender.
After losing the first set 4-6, Djokovic won the next three 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 and secured his place in the semi-finals.
Djokovic was 4-2 up in the fourth set and just one point away from breaking the Spaniard’s serve when an almighty rally broke out.
The game was not without controversy, Alcaraz was booed during the second-set at 3-1 down after challenging the umpire over a let call.
Returning the serve of Alcaraz, the two superstars played out a mammoth 36-stroke rally with the 26-time grand slam winning looking firmly in control and likely to get the point.
However a wayward shot from Djokovic ensured that Alcaraz won the point to put the game back in the balance.
The fans in attendance were on their feet at what they had just seen, while a clearly exhausted Alcaraz couldn’t help but smile at winning one of the most difficult points that he’ll ever claim.
But at the other end of the court, Djokovic didn’t look happy as the fired up star waves his hands in the direction of the stands. Immediately after, the camera cut to Murray who was clearly taking it all in his stride.
In contrast to Djokovic, the three-time grand slam champion sat with a deadpan expression on his face before scratching his ear without a shred of emotion.
During his hugely successful career, Murray was known for his emotional outbursts but now that he’s on the sidelines as Djokovic’s coach, fans couldn’t help but be entertained by what they’d seen.
One fan wrote: “Watching Djokovic yell at Andy Murray is just such a bizarre concept.”
A second wrote: “What a rally! Andy Murray looks so calm in the coaching box.”
Meanwhile a third added: “Djokovic seems far more relaxed with Murray than I can ever recall.”
Despite the fiery moment, Djokovic went on to win the match in four sets, leading to a heartwarming moment between the Serbian and Murray.
After puffing out his cheeks with relief, Murray was greeted by Djokovic who walked over to him and gave him a hug among the cheers of the watching supporters.
In a contest that proved to be an epic physical and mental battle, Alcaraz could be seen cooling down on an exercise bike after the match.
Murray then showed his class by approaching the Spaniard and embracing him with a handshake to congratulate him on his efforts.
Next up for Djokovic is a clash with Alexander Zverev in the semi finals on Friday as he looks to secure a record-extending 11th title in Melbourne.
