SWIATEK SHOCKS WITH BJK CUP REVERSAL: 'See You Soon' in Malaga!

World No. 2 Iga Swiatek has made a stunning U-turn, announcing she will represent Poland at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Malaga, starting November 13.

The five-time Grand Slam champion had initially opted out of the competition but reversed her decision, joining Magdalena Frech, Magda Linette, Katarzyna Kawa, and Maja Chwalinska on Poland’s team.

“I’m happy to announce that I will play in the BJKC Finals,” Swiatek wrote. “I’m glad to play for my country and proudly represent Poland. We will give our best on the court.”

Swiatek’s surprise return to competition comes after a brief hiatus following her US Open quarter-final defeat and split from coach Tomasz Wiktorowski. She has since hired Wim Fissette as her new coach.

The Polish star will face a tough challenge in Malaga, potentially facing Spain’s Paula Badosa in the Round of 16. A win would set up a quarter-final clash with Czech Republic.

With her participation, Swiatek becomes the highest-ranked player in the draw, joined by Jessica Pegula (USA) and Jasmine Paolini (Italy) as the only top-10 representatives.

Other notable players in action include Leylah Fernandez (Canada), Karolina Muchova (Czech Republic), and Emma Raducanu (Great Britain).

Swiatek’s revised schedule includes two events: the WTA Finals title defence (November 6-12) and the BJK Cup Finals.
